The streets were boisterous as people came from all over the country to bring their harvest to the temple. They were about to celebrate the new year together with a great feast. The air smelled of fresh barley. The honey was sweet and the figs fresh. People had their donkeys strapped with carts full to the brim with fresh fruit, oil, and barley as they entered the bustling city. The Inns were sold out and every home was filled with relatives from afar. The noise was intense. The animals tried to make their voices louder than their owners. It was a wonderful time of the year.

We’ve spent the last several weeks looking into great leaders’ lives. We’ve explored the areas that the Lord worked in them to build up their character and their stories, in order to lead a multitude of other people to Him. Here’s the thing, we’ve looked at a lot of people. Now I want to look to God.

As we come to the end of this series, I find it fitting to explore the life of Jesus; our ultimate humble example.

Their leader was captured and killed. … All of their dreams and plans by their understanding were ruined. So, they did what they thought was safest. They retreated into a locked house in fear of the Jews…

As I read through and reflected upon the story of Jesus’ birth, there’s another part of the story that I have been fascinated by this year. The movement of the Holy Spirit.

Adversity has taught me three things. One, life is hard. Two, life is short. Three, I have much to be grateful for.

I want to share something with you that keeps stirring within my heart. Something I discovered five years ago that has been transforming my life ever since. It’s simple, and something you may not understand the full weight of just yet. But I pray in time that you will.

What did Jesus mean when He said He is the Bread of Life? Who was He talking to? How does it relate to feeding 5,000 people?

Why would I choose to live my life for Jesus? Is it really worth it? How do I know it isn’t something somebody made up?
