There are certain events in life that you never forget. More often than not, it’s usually the type of circumstance that ambushes your senses, a seismic disruption of the ground beneath your feet. The type of thing that you never see coming, but leaves you dazed and disoriented in its wake. Such was the day when I inadvertently discovered my earthly origin.
Your daily responsibilities can feel all-encompassing at times. It’s easy to read God’s word, observe a bit of Scripture, and then carry on, often forgetting what you read. The truths of the gospel and your identity in Christ get muted to the superficial demands vying for your attention. Yet, when you can slow down and give yourself enough time to absorb God’s Word, it’s like a whole new realm of wisdom and wonder unveils itself.
To those who have adopted or are considering adoption, I think it is fascinating to realize that you were adopted as well. If you are a child of God, then you were adopted the moment you said yes to a relationship with Jesus. You are a chosen child of God. Wow! What a thought.
A praise to the Lord for our own adoption. Life has purpose and we have much to be grateful for.
