Infertility

Prayer: For Those Diagnosed Infertile

Dear Father,

I thank You today that you sent Your Son to live among us. Thank You for the testimony He left in Your word. Thank You that we can search Scripture and find Your truth and hope. You say that Jesus “Himself took our weaknesses and carried our diseases.” (Matthew 8:17)

Father, today I’d like to bring the couple before You who have lost the dream of children. Their hearts have been shattered. Their pain has unraveled their hearts. They have heard the news that they cannot conceive. They are indefinitely infertile.

Lord, that news stings to the very core of who they are. It feels like it goes against the very nature they were designed for. How can they find hope in this situation? How can they face the world around them? How do they answer others’ questions?

I know that people care. I know that they want to love and support this couple. I know that people ask if they have kids in innocence. But those questions and words sting this couple’s hearts. It’s like the scab is being ripped off each time.

Abba, thank You that You are “the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3). I trust that You will love and comfort this couple as they grieve. I pray that they will lay their burdens, pain, questions, and grief before You. I pray that they would take the time needed to grieve and let it all out. I pray that they would not only grieve personally, but as a couple as well. They have lost a lot and it is so tragically hard. Continue to help them see each other through Your eyes.

Please come and show Yourself to them in a new light. Bring hope where hope seems lost. Bring light into their darkness. Jesus, You are the “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6b) Be all these things to this couple right now. They need You!

I pray that there are supporters that can come around them and love them through this. May others sit with them and cry; No words are needed. Please bring others that will make meals for them. Let people listen to their mourning and offer prayers to You on their behalf.

You understand death and life. You understand grief and pain like no one else. We have suffering in this life. But we have great hope of eternal peace and joy in Your kingdom where no grief and pain reside. Please strengthen this couple. Bring joy back into their lives. Help them to worship and praise You in any and all circumstances because You are still worthy!

Be their guide and direct them with their next steps. I know the pain of feeling frozen and lost. I know what it is like to not know how to live the next day, to face work, life, and people. Father, You so graciously helped me to breathe, to praise, to keep going. Please do the same for them. Let them know that there is still so much more to life.

“Your word is a lamp to [our] feet and a light to [our] path” (Psalm 119:105). May they lean into it and find “strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow” (Great is Thy Faithfulness).

You are faithful.

In Jesus’ loving name we pray,
Amen
