Most of Joshua’s life was spent in the Wilderness with Moses and the rebellious Israelites. He started his leadership training as a young man. Moses saw something in him that stood above Aaron and many other leaders that surrounded Moses. What was the difference between Joshua and the other men?
He was on the run. He was away from everything he knew. He was Hebrew by lineage, Egyptian by adoption, and torn between the two. Now he was away from it all. Everyone and everything familiar was gone. The guilt of the murder was on his hands. What was going to happen next?
…”We aren’t alone. There have been many others in the Bible who found themselves in this situation too. Some of them were running from someone. Others walked into the wilderness to find something. All ended up with the same kind of answer: A Humble Beginning”
Their leader was captured and killed. … All of their dreams and plans by their understanding were ruined. So, they did what they thought was safest. They retreated into a locked house in fear of the Jews…
Jesus could have come to earth as King. He should have stopped all the mockery and torture. But He did. He humbled Himself in an incredible and powerful way.
After reading about Jesus’ baptism and wilderness experience, I searched the Bible to see what happened next. I know He called the disciples to follow Him. He also performed His first miracle. But something I never noticed previously, happened before all that.
Then Jesus grew up. Moments of His childhood gave glimpses into His abilities. The Father was teaching Him. Holy Spirit was working in Him. Then came the day. The day that would spark the beginnings of it all.
What does Easter mean to me? Why? What does it mean to you? Are you preparing your heart, mind, soul, and spirit? Has the Bible story because monotonous to you? Let’s take this month to look afresh at the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
As we deepen our understanding of knowledge and love for God, we begin to get a glimpse of how deep the Father’s love for us truly goes. The more we understand that, the more we grow in our identity in Him, the more confidence and boldness we gain when approaching the throne of God, and handling the world’s hate of Him and us.
As I shared in our weekly email, the word, know, has been coming up a lot in my studies through 2 Peter and 1 John. Many of us read that word and carry on with the basic understanding we have of it. Yet in Scripture, there are moments where the word know carries a much deeper meaning.
