To: The Women Who’ve Miscarried

I know Mother’s Day was difficult day for you. I want you to know that you are loved and were prayed for.

I want you to hear that you are a Mom. Though others may have never met your child, you and your husband have. You may have even held him and kissed her. You have carried a child, so you can bear the title of Mom. You loved and nurtured him in your womb. You blessed him and prayed for him. You sang to him. Your husband spoke and read to him. You watched your belly grow, maybe heard her heartbeat and seen her little kicks. You dreamed of the life she might have.

I want you to feel free to talk about your child this week. I want you to do something for yourself that makes you feel special. Whether it’s buying yourself some flowers, a latte, or enjoying a special breakfast. Whatever makes you feel special, give yourself permission. It is important.

Dear Father,

I thank You that You are “the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3). You are El Roi – The God Who Sees. You see the broken hearts of these women. You hear their prayers for healing and peace. You care about each one. You see the afflictions of Your children and You deliver.

Father, I trust that You will be the Prince of Peace and the God of all comfort to these women this week. Help them to feel special in Your eyes, Lord. Fill them with Your confident hope. As Isaiah said about those that are Yours, “For the LORD Your God, even the Holy One of Israel, has glorified you (endowed you with splendor)” (Isaiah 55:5). I ask that You would endow them with Your splendor this week Lord. Fill them with it and bring joy to their hearts instead of sorrow.

Help them to look forward to the future and the things You have in store for them. Plant a seed in their hearts, a promise Abba, of what is yet to come for them. Let them “declare Your love in the morning and Your faithfulness at night” (Psalm 92:2)

I give each woman, each couple, and each family into Your hands this week. I bless You and praise You for the little lives that surround us. I thank You for the opportunity we have to speak into their lives and encourage them as they grow. May those who ache for children never curse those who have them, but bless them Father. May we all bless and give back as You so graciously give to us.

We love You and we leave all of this in Your capable and mighty hands by the power and the name of Jesus,
Amen

“May Yahweh bless you and protect you;
May Yahweh make His face shine on you and be gracious to you;
May Yahweh look with favor on you and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26
