The Childless Woman’s Household

“Hallelujah!
Give praise, servants of the Lord;
praise the name of the Lord.
Let the name of the Lord be blessed
both now and forever.

From the rising of the sun to its setting,
let the name of the Lord be praised.

The Lord is exalted above all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God—
the one enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the trash heap
in order to seat them with nobles—
with the nobles of his people.
He gives the childless woman a household,
making her the joyful mother of children.
Hallelujah!”

Psalm 113
 (Bolded for emphasis)

I know your heart yearns and grieves for a little one here on earth. I know that you feel at times like the Lord has forgotten you. Why would a good God not give you what He promised to Abraham, if you are a part of God’s family? You would raise your child to know the Lord. You would serve Him well by this. Everyone around you comments on how you’d be a great mother some day. So why are you childless?

Come with me on a little journey for a moment.

Let’s say that God doesn’t grant you children in your human lifetime. Know by this passage that you are never forgotten! God isn’t treating you worse than anyone else. It’s just not your time to be a mother.

But … what if you aren’t supposed to be a mother in this lifetime because the Lord desires you to be a mother for eternity? What if your role is grander than what it could be now?

God never leaves us empty without a point. There is always a greater purpose and plan behind everything. Though your heart aches now, He might have given you that ache and desire because He wants to overwhelm you with complete joy in the future. Maybe that desire will be exponentially fulfilled in the New Kingdom, where you will have loads of children to take care of and love. And think, you will never grow tired or weary from them. They will never deal with temptations, illness, or struggles. They’ll have the Father to guide them. They’ll yearn to do what is right and true, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

You’ll have the privilege to serve them, feed them, play with them, and enjoy their love and snuggles for years to come. In pure joy, peace, and strength. In overwhelming love and security.

Though a lifetime here without children can feel so very long, it is a blink of an eye in light of eternity. In light of the joy and blessings that await you, child of God.

He hasn’t forgotten anyone, ever. He raises up the poor and needy and seats them with royalty. He takes you, childless one, and gives you a place of honour as well.

Don’t get lost in keeping your eyes on the world and its “expectations” of you. Keep your eyes and heart looking to Jesus. Hold onto hope that He has something so grand in store that your earthly mind could never comprehend.

Continue to endure this momentary affliction, and hold onto an amazing future that awaits you. Stay faithful and give praise to your Creator! He deserves it. He loves you. He’s got good things planned for you that will ultimately continuously cause you to give glory back to Him. Hallelujah!
