Praise Your Maker

Dear Father,

Thank You for Your patience with Your children. I know that more times than not, we are very disciplined at bringing our requests before You. But we lack greatly in not taking the time to acknowledge You and give thanks for all that we have in the here and now.

Father, thank You for our lives. We get so caught up in discouragement in not having our own children, that we forget to be grateful for the breath in our lungs. Thank You so much for making us the way You have, with the various characteristics that make us unique. Thank You that we are special to You. Even though there are over seven billion people on this earth and countless others before us, You still know and care about every detail, down to the number of hairs on our heads. We don’t even know that!

You know every physical feature about us, every internal aspect of our entirety. You know what works well and what doesn’t. You know why we think the way we do. Why we act the way we do. Why we love the way we do.

Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit that counsels and guides us in life. Thank You that we have the privilege of having a part of the Living God reside in our human finite beings. That it helps to shape us to become more like Jesus.

Thank You for the spiritual gifts that You uniquely equip each one of us with, so that we can live out the purposes You have intricately designed us for. Thank You that You are our “lamp to our feet and a light to our path” (Psalm 119:105). Thank You that we can trust in You to lead us, even through the storms of life. We never have to fear. We don’t have to live shackled to shame. We don’t have to doubt or worry because “You make everything beautiful in its own time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). We have a choice to trust You or not. You gave us options to choose, because You want us to choose You. Thank You that You don’t force Yourself on us, but invite us to join You.

Thank You Father for sending Jesus to earth. A very part of You sacrificed so that You could enjoy an amazing, loving, perfect relationship with those who desire You. You sacrificed so much of Yourself to give us eternal life.

Lord, we don’t understand our sufferings most times, apart from the fact that we live in a sin-filled world. Forgive us for our grumbling and complaining when we don’t understand. You see and know the bigger picture. You understand the why’s, what’s, and how’s to everything. Even though we get frustrated, angry, and broken over things like infertility, Your love, grace, and compassion abounds all the more.

Father, teach us to seek You at all times. Teach us to look to You rather than our circumstances. To keep our eyes fixed on the greater picture and our greater worth than what this world expects or conveys to us.

May we surrender our hopes and dreams to You. May we find peace and assurance in Jesus alone. May we rise up and shine Christ’s light to the world, so that when they look at us, they are left dumbfounded. When they look at us, they wonder how we stand strong in the midst of deep pain. They wonder what the difference is and they thirst after it. May our lives and hearts be a burning attraction to the world around us, so that people are drawn and dedicated to You, our Maker and Master.

You are majestic. You are sovereign. You are the “King of Kings and the Lord of Lords” (Revelation 19:16). Yet, You are also our Beloved. May we catch a glimpse of Your glory and love, and spend the rest of our lives chasing after that with complete loving, passionate pursuit. Because You are worthy of it all.

No matter the outcome of our situations, You deserve ALL the praise and glory. May the scales fall from our eyes and may we know what Your desires are for us. May we pursue You and never thirst again.

In the name of our Loving, Life-giving Jesus,

Amen
