Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I’ll keep this short today, as I’m sure you all have something special planned. I’d encourage you to go beyond your thankful expressions today. I’d like for you to turn it back to God in moments of praise. When you say or think of things that you are thankful for, count God in on that. He’s the One that’s provided it. Whether it be relationships, nature, material goods, spiritual growth, or a healthy body or mind, these are all things that the Lord has helped you with. Rejoice and give Him the praise that is due.

I was looking at a bookmark a few days ago I received from a friend at Precept Ministries. It has a list of some of the names of God on it. I thought it would be neat to go through some of the names and give thanks to God for His different attributes that we can depend on:

Adonai – LORD, Master
“And do not be called masters either, because you have one Master, the Messiah.” – Matthew 23:10

Elohim – The Creator
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” – Genesis 1:1
“we are the clay, and You are the potter; we all are the work of Your hands” – Isaiah 64:8

Jehovah-Nissi – The LORD my Banner
“On that day the root of Jesse
will stand as a banner for the peoples.
The nations will seek Him,
and His resting place will be glorious.” – Isaiah 11:10

Jehovah-Raah – The LORD my Shepherd
“I am the good shepherd. I know My own sheep, and they know me.” – John 10:14

Jehovah-Rapha – The LORD who heals
“LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me” – Psalm 30:2

Jehovah Sabaoth – The LORD of hosts
“His name is Yahweh (another name for Lord) of Hosts – and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; He is called the God of all the earth.” – Isaiah 54:5

Jehovah-Shalom – The LORD is Peace
He is our “…Prince of peace” – Isaiah 9:6b
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.” – John 14:27

May El Olam-The Everlasting God, “be praised from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, “Amen!” Hallelujah!” – Psalm 106:48
